When looking for a new job I didn't think an apprenticeship was for me. Feeling too old, but my love of books meant I had to give this a shot a job where I am surrounded by books all day sounded amazing! #NAW2021

When I started, I soon realised the library service is so much more than book, it is a place people go to for help, for information, to meet other people and the list just kept growing. Every day was a new experience, new queries, new opportunities.
The training I received was so useful and my colleagues were so supportive that I never had to worry about asking for help if I became stuck with a query or did understand something. I was given an opportunity to try every aspect of the library service and I loved every second.
The NVQ I did alongside my apprenticeship ensures I have a skillset which not only benefits the library, but also ensures I have a qualification that I can use outside of the library service.
All the staff and management teams have been incredible and I would recommend doing an apprenticeship to anyone, no matter what their age. Turns out you can teach and old dog new tricks. @CILIPinfo
