On occasion, folk who don’t agree with me & don’t know me take aim at my profession & suggest I don’t work, or don’t have a (proper) job. Not everyone can be a brain surgeon. Some have a profession which many people belittle,
ridicule, or at best don’t understand. I’ve worked hard, long hours, run my own business entirely on my own, paid my taxes & rarely been without work. I took a decision to work in a commercial area of design that would earn me a living, but it’s never been easy.
I could have done something more academic. I’ve had to live with assumptions that I’m stupid, but I’d rather have a life that’s somewhat challenging than a boring one. To abuse someone about their job because you don’t agree with them, however strongly, is pretty low.
Incidentally, one serial abuser who called me a jobless moron & a lazy sponging git was a travel writer, of all things. FFS. I wonder what he’s doing right now
