This is a critical number for several reasons. Gov DeSantis in recent weeks touted being “First in the Nation per capita.” This was true. The current dataset shows Florida has since fallen dramatically as other states have sped up their per capita vaccine administration.
Gov DeSantis now uses language that Florida is first in the nation in vaccinating those 65 years and older. This figure may also be a big misleading, as the data published by the CDC relies on information provided by the states...
Furthermore, as each state dictates its own regulations for vaccine qualifications, comparing the states’ data set in this way is like comparing apples and oranges.
Alaska (14,532) has administered the most number of FIRST SHOT doses per capita, followed by the territory of Guam (14,215), West Virginia (12,143), and New Mexico (11,700).

Connecticut (34K) leads the nation in terms of the most number of Second Dose vaccines administered, completing the critical vaccination cycle. Followed by West Virginia (5,804), Alaska (5,405), and North Dakota (4,941).
