I got my wisdom tooth out yesteday under general anesthetic and when I came to, in an American accent, I started telling all the nurses that I was going to tell @BetaRish how good Saffron Jack was on twitter, because it was a Very Good Book and I'd just finished it.
The anestheologist then asked me why I had an American accent out of nowhere, so I assured him that "he didn't do this to me, I just watched too much Scooby Doo as a kid and this happens sometimes" and then did my yorkshire accent and my terrible Russian accents for balance.
Also I kept apologising to the nurses for taking too much and telling them how good they were at their jobs and one of the nurses was like "uhuh, maybe you should sit there quietly for a bit, it'll be good for you." and I was like "no."
Anyway, the moral of this story is that Saffron Jack is very good, and reading it before surgery definitely prevented me from talking about anything embarrassing. 10/10.
