The myth of the Black Matriarchy. A thread
The myth of the black matriarchy came from the 1968 Moynihan Report, which linked the worsening black family structure and lack of male leadership to the overall decline of the black community.

Instead of encouraging men to find ways take care of their families, BW were blamed
Black women began to have public discussions around this issue and many black women believed that as long as they stayed behind black men and empowered them the black community would begin to prosper.
"In order for me to regain my manhood, I have to deny you your peoplehood"
During this time the black love movement began to take off. Black women, especially Middle Class BW started to take on the mission of restoring the black community. Writing books on how revolutionary black love was and “How to keep a black man”
Sadly it wasn’t as easy for poor black women who were dealing with the stress of raising black children alone.

In 1968 Black Women respond to black nationalists calling on BW to NOT take birth control, claiming that being on birth control “contributes to our own genocide”
Poor black women were in an impossible position, tasked with preserving the black race alone while also being labeled as too militant and being constantly compared to other women who’s men allowed them to rest in their femininity.
“The black matriarch is a myth, because it wasn’t her choice” Well at least he knew that.
Single motherhood rates steadily skyrocketed in the black community. Even black women who would have otherwise escaped poverty were falling victim.
This is the father of her children.
This is just sad.
She has to take care of her children alone on welfare because their father doesn’t work, yet he refuses to take precautions to prevent having more children.
A huge chunk of single mothers were teenage black girls, the mixture of low standards and poor education created a baby boom. She decided to have a baby with this man because he was boat legged 🙁
Arrested for bringing a machete to school...
“‘Why are there so many single parent households?’

‘Have you been walking the streets of Newark Lately? All our young men are out on the corner, just absolutely doing nothing’”
The only way black women have destroyed the black community was by having low self esteem. Raising the children of low value men all alone for nothing in return and passing down the same generational trauma that got them there in the first place.
