Took a long time gun model of ours shooting for the very first time... and she wasn’t even bad haha.

Then as we were packing up she was like: “did you just hear that? Some lady crying for help?”
I was wearing ear plugs, she has electronic ear pro on... I didn’t hear shit and the snowfall was fresh with no tracks: we were the only ones in the mountain most likely.

“No I’m serious! I heard someone cry for help!”

Wtf...
“FINE, let’s go look... but not before I top off”

A few weeks prior at DARC I had just learned the ideal way to stop a carbine in vehicle ops. Grabbed a fresh mag from the Spiritus rig she was wearing and we were off
I drive about 400 yards over a bridge and raging river, yelling out “hullllooooo?!”

Maybe there is a lady in the river. Maybe Bigfoot is out here. Maybe there is a pit gang looking to rob people at this shooting spot
I see a dude in the middle of the NF road, waving his arms. Well I’ll be damned. Older guy, overweight, in shorts and a hoody.

Turns out he was the person crying for help! A NC nature photographer, he had blindly followed GPS directions DEEP into the mountains with his doggo
Dude had been stranded for 24 hours and I wasn’t surprised. Most people don’t drive out this far, up these rugged roads... and def not with a Kia compact car with all-season tires.

I had a tow strap and recovery boards in my truck like usual.
I let the dude jump into my cab while we drove a quarter mile to his car. Evie says his eyes bugged out when he jumped on top of all the guns I had hastily thrown in the back seat.

He had gotten stuck backing down a thin mountain road.
We improvised a tow strap solution to his little KIA tow hook: used a tire iron to secure the tow loop on his end, looped the strap into my truck frame via 2x4 used for holding up steel.

TIL: I need to buy compatability tow hardware and keep an entrenching tool in the cab
When I go into the mountains for a photoshoot with a model there is 20% chance of running into someone stranded out there LOL. This is my 3rd one. Last spring I saved a whole family, their college aged daughter and her co-ed friends.

Yes the coeds were hot. I was with my GF😂
Right before this shot, me and Amanda from Radian found a young couple stranded with their brand new Jeep.

It ain’t like the commercials folks, all season tires don’t work in the powdery snow and slush lololol.
