Hello
I am one of them. While vaccine hesitancy exists, it doesn’t fully explain the emergent racial/ethnic and SES disparities we’re seeing in vaccination uptake across the US. Fundamental Cause Theory is a better explanation: 1/n https://twitter.com/eugenia_south/status/1359536029603094528

In the absence of well-coordinated vaccine roll out plans that prioritized equity and culturally appropriate communication strategies, those with more flexible resources (i.e. $$$, power, knowledge, social connections, prestige) and time have been able to access vaccines 1st 2/n
Without immediate action, we will likely see EXACERBATED racial/ethnic, socioeconomic and geographic disparities in COVID-19 morbidity and mortality in the short run, with disproportionately negative long term consequences for the communities least able to access vaccines 3/n
In the absence of a national health care system, addressing this problem will take coordination across federal, state, and local levels with emphasis on partnering with local community orgs who have well established, trusting relationships w/ “harder to reach” populations. 4/4
