Please. Please! Navigate the conversation of keeping cis men accountable for the abuse that they enact and perpetuate without using implicitly transphobic and/or intersex erasing language. I assure you it is easy and means everything to the folks you’re erasing by not using it.
The amount of cisnormative, Sex-reductive, and gender determinist language that gets thrown around every time a cis man is being held to account is just so frustrating. You erase so many peoples experience all get your dunk in at under 100 characters.
And if you’re thinking “ well of course people meant cis men”. No see that is the exact problem because that’s a cisnormative framing of manhood and masculinity that implicitly erases trans men, trans masc folks, and masc of center folks.
This does not take much effort to rectify yet for so little input your adjusted behaviors would have a major output in the way that it implicitly hold spaces within these conversations allowing folks of marginalized genders the ability to engage fully.
And this means so much because too often the forms of abuse the folks you’re erasing deal with is so often neglected.
I’m just tired of framing trans and intersex inclusive language as if it’s in any way a distraction. I’m tired of having to manage other peoples feelings when they actively erase other peoples identity and experiences. I’m tired of watching folks fall through the cracks.
And it it makes me more tired because of how damn simple the solution is and how self you have to be to get into arguments about how much more you value you freedom of speech over the experiences and pain of others.
This is after seeing an alarmingly high volume of posts since this morning where trans and intersex people are being erased in this conversation
