no look i don’t mean to get on my high horse here but what really annoys me is that the media spent YEARS tearing down a successful talented YOUNG ADULT and drove her mental health into the ground but now that she’s older and she made a few “mature” albums, she’s finally cool
like people who just now became fans don’t understand just how much she and the fandom dealt with in the last decade and i don’t even mean the 2016 fiasco — 2012 was BRUTAL bc it was just slut-shaming and sexism and absolute hate for no reason
there were years when people would question if she even WROTE her own songs! people told me to my face that she couldn’t be that talented, that nice, that great, and nothing she did was ever good enough — even when she won AOTY at 20
and i am so GLAD we are at a point where she doesn’t care, where she’s happy, where her music is still a success, but people just quietly forget that it used to be cool to hate on a woman for writing and singing about her romantic feelings, that it still is cool to attack her
and idc how you personally feel, i get she isn’t everyone’s vibe and this fandom is annoying as hell, but what’s not okay is jumping on the bandwagon now trying to reap the benefits of her pain bc she’s finally mature enough or whatever
