Fact thread on Aura in #RWBY cuz I still see people asking for info we already have lol
1) Every living being has Aura. It just needs to be unlocked first, which many aren't able to do without training.

Bonus: Aura color isn't always the same as eye color. It has something to do with the meaning of their name if not their eyes.
2) Aura supply and strength depends on the person. For example, Jaune has an abnormal amount of Aura, and Hazel's is not only extremely durable but also has an insane regeneration rate.
3) When Aura is unlocked, it requires training to strengthen it. It's not going to be at its max potential once they gain access to it.

Example: Oscar's Aura broke after a single attack from Lionheart in V5. He'd only been training with it for roughly a month max.
4) Aura doesn't need to be unlocked to unlock a Semblance, i.e. Ren and Cinder unlocking theirs as children due to intense stress and anger/frustration respectively.
5) Semblances are an advanced way to utilize Aura, so it cant be used without it.
6) Aura can be charged to specific body parts to be used as weapons or shields, like Ren's first on-screen fight with a King Taijitu. So, yes, they can use Aura to enhance their physical abilities if they train hard enough.
7) An Aura flash or flicker with no other effect means it's weak and on low supply.

Minor #RWBY8Spoilers cuz I couldn't find a better clip to show it clearly
8) Aura flickering WITH a particle effect means they're out of Aura.

Which brings me to say this:

No. Oscar didn't use his Sembkance to land. It was Ozma's magic.
9) Aura protects the user from injuries, as you hopefully know by this point. But this doesnt mean every possible injury will only crack it with each hit.

There's a lot to keep in mind when it comes to how bad an injury can actually be.

[1/?]
Where were they hit?

What were they hit with? A hammer, sword, fist, etc?

How hard was the blow? A graze? Hard enough to throw them back into a wall and crack it?

Were they impaled? *Where* they were stabbed is BEYOND IMPORTANT.

[2/?]
How small/weak are they compared to the opponent/object that's hurting them?

This especially applies to blunt force trauma and hand-to-hand combat.

(i.e. the Hound jumping on Oscar and breaking his Aura instantly because it was so big, heavy, and landed on his back).

[3/?]
Did they fall? If so, from what height? What position were they in?

The potential injuries you can get from just stubbing your toe and tripping or sliding down the stairs is insane.

Keep in mind the human body is FRAGILE.

10) It regenerates gradually over time.

I'm not kidding when I say I've seen people question why someone can use their Aura within like 5 minutes of it being depleted.

It's not gone forever??? wtf

It also depends on the person for how fast said process is.
11) It doesnt keep you from feeling cold or hot, nor does it produce heat (unless that's their Semblance). All it does is prevent hypothermia and hyperthermia.

Speaking of which, extreme temperatures gradually drain it, so it won't protect you forever.
12) Using Aura to protect yourself requires a lot of training before it becomes easier and more of a reflex/subconscious thing, like Ren said.

V5Ch4? Correct me if I'm wrong on the episode but he did say this.
13) Aura can be extended to objects the character is holding, like their weapons, so they're more durable.

That's why in V4, when Tyrian cut Ruby's scythe, her Aura cracked.
14) Expanding on what I said in 6, there's more to do with Aura than protecting yourself, using it offensively or defensively, and having a Semblance.

From what we've seen so far, there's Aura sensing and identifying who's it is, plus extrasensory perception.

More advanced Aura users like Pyrrha can also unlock Aura if someone cant do it on their own.

15) If their Aura is strong enough, they can heal minor wounds almost instantly, like a bruise or scrape or something.

i.e. Jaune in the Emerald Forest

(strong Aura =/= durable Aura)
16) Semblances seem to more often relate to how the user is as a person, and I cant recall ever seeing a character/Semblance pair that doesnt match this in some way, aside from MAYBE Weiss.
17) Aura color and Semblances can be inherited, but an inherited Semblance is rare.
that's just off the top of my head

i'll add to this if i remember anything else
