1/ Watching the Tiger Woods documentary is somewhat painful. I’m invested in athletes achieving lofty goals. But witnessing the pathology that was required to achieve such mastery is disturbing. Tiger’s achievements are idolised. His early career considered the greatest golf ever
2/ But to achieve that greatness meant breaking and robbing him of a normal life. Is it possible to be that great and be relatively normal? To have a “normal” life? I fear it’s not. And that means greatness of that magnitude can possibly not be reached healthily.
3/ Its a conundrum. Because it means that true greatness comes at a price. Is that really “greatness”? Or is a balanced existence the greater achievement. Things to ponder.
