@TalkClubUK - a thread:

A year ago I was perusing the t-shirts in @recordsfriendly so I could rep the cartoon vinyl bloke and look the dogs. Unbeknowingly I had in fact bought the Talk Club charity t-shirt. This led to a quick Google search which would change my life...
Clicking on https://www.wetalkclub.com/  I was met with "HOW ARE YOU? OUT OF 10? LET’S TALK CLUB ABOUT IT"

Wow, how am I really doing?

Like many others, when asked "how are you?" I would reply "yeah alright, you?" when in fact this wasn't always the case...
So why do I - and others - reply with 'alright' and 'not bad'?

For me, I think there was a lack of emotional intelligence and confidence to say how I was really doing, plus, the sense of not burdening someone else with my true feelings - with a side order of stoicism...
How are you? Out of 10? is a tool to cut through the bullshit of niceties. In just one word, you can tell your friend where you are really at and you can start to be emotionally aware of your own feelings.

Your number is unique to you and encourages a meaningful conversation...
Whilst we are called Talk Club, it could equally be called Listening Club.

How often does someone reply "you know what you wanna do..." - which often doesn't help - or have someone interject?

We all want to be heard, so be comfortable with listening - it may just save a life..
Since finding Talk Club it has given me the tools and confidence to be more open, and I can directly attribute it to my improvements in dealing with panic and anxiety.

I would keep stuff in, and it would manifest itself in physical symptoms, feeling like I was going to die...
I have met some amazing people since being involved with Talk Club and I'm proud to be co-captaining Talk Club Bristol Rovers in partnership with @BristolRoversCT. We regularly have full sessions with men sharing and listening, as well as nearly 100 men in our Facebook group...
The Talk Club community is growing and it is literally saving lives.

So, how are you? out of 10?
