All this info comes from recruiter talks, what I've heard from professionals, and my own experience of looking at sites (1/12)
Before I go into my spiel, this is a great thread of different opinions on animatics vs slideshows for presenting your boards (2/12) https://twitter.com/miss_washingt0n/status/1316776178917748739?s=20
My opinion is if you aren't good at timing and your boards don't depend on it cus you don't have audio...stick to just the slideshow.
If you want to show off your timing and your boards work better, put that animatic in! Just make sure you also have a slideshow option

If you are struggling with how to put slideshare or speakerdeck into your wix site, here's a video I made

Moving on to the site
The best advice I have is: do everything you can to make the recruiter's life easier. If you look at my site
BAM my home page is also my storyboard page because that's what I want to do. I also put a note that you can use arrow keys to make it clear. (5/12)

Having a home page doesn't serve me in any way and would only make the recruiter click one more time. There's no point in putting a drop-down menu of the different stories if you can scroll through all of them.

I have other pages for comics and character design but those are things that the recruiter can explore if they have time. if you are applying to other positions that aren't on your home page, I would send the link to the other pages.

You should definitely have your name and what type of artist you are on your site, especially if your domain name isn't your name. Something that can help you stand out is making your resume, cover letter, and business card match. This will help your brand stay consistent
Some other little things I have is putting my resume on my about page and also my social media and email in the corner so it's easy to find and click. (9/12)
Unsure of what else to fix? Check how your site looks on different browsers and devices. How does it look on mobile?
Send your site to your friends and ask them for feedback. Send it to your family! Ask if it's easy to navigate.

Something that helped me was studying the sites of people who are in the industry. I saw what I enjoyed and didn't enjoy from each site. I keep a google doc for reference and check back on it from time to time. (11/12)
