A few things "everyone" agree on regarding nutrition.

It's easy to get caught up in endless and unproductive arguments about low carb vs. high carb, vegan vs. carnivore, etc.

Instead, let's focus on what "everyone" agree on.
1. WHOLE FOODS VS. INDUSTRIALLY PROCESSED FOODS

Most people who have some knowledge about nutrition would agree that industrial processing makes food less healthy. Minimally processed foods are usually more nutritious, more protein rich and give better satiety per calories.
2. PROTEIN INTAKE

If you eat somewhere between 1.6 and 2.2 grams of protein per kg bodyweight per day you're pretty much good to go. There isn't much debate about this. This level of protein is for someone which is reasonably physically active.
3. ENERGY BALANCE

Calories in minus calories out. If you're in a surplus you'll gain weight. If in a deficit you'll lose weight. There isn't really a debate about this. Even the low carb community agree here, possibly with a few rare exceptions.
4. CONSISTENCY AND SUSTAINABILITY

The perfect combination of energy and nutrients as no value if you can't stick to your diet in the long run. In addition to nutrition your diet needs to be sustainable. You therefore need to enjoy your food and it needs to keep you from hunger.
