Every scholarship have their key requirements which might be in one or more of your areas of strength.

you need to identify where your strength lies and maximize it.

Some scholarships might emphasize more about research or work experience while other might be about academic excellence and leadership qualities.

Some fields in a scholarship application might not compulsory but can be a tie breaker. For instance in Commonwealth Shared Scholarship application, research publication is a requirement but not compulsory. I didn't have one when I applied.

4/n
Literally skill help you to compose concise and interesting essays. It one thing to know what to write and another thing to know how best to write it. You can always improve on this by practicing. Rememeber, it takes time to write good essays.

Generally, if you understand the core purpose of a scholarship, you can predict the impact of each component on the overall outcome of the application and know how well to approach it.

Remember at the point of application,

you can do little to nothing to improve on what you already have (like grades, publications and experience), but knowing how to leverage your areas of strength will not only make you stand out but help you to make smart scholarship choices.
