Let's talk the Non-Negotiables! (a thread since I haven't done one in awhile lol)
I believe the last several weeks have been quite telling giving us an eye to the future as well as showing us some of the values Arteta wants & roles he see's moving forward.

Part 1/6
Non-Negotiables:
1) Central Compactness & attacking/defending in 5 channels
Attacking Pattern Philosophy; Draw the counter-press with numerical advantages wide before transitioning through the thirds to create 1 v 1 opportunities on the wings!

Leeds showed how we will do it;
See the role ESR played tactically as it is a window to our future with technicians starting wide but driving interior before laying off to the deep MF who completes the wide overload with a rushing FB (tho Auba did this b/c of no Tierney).

This pattern of play uses the build-up to create wide overloads before springing the wings into a 1 v 1. Exactly what we will be looking to achieve both sides improved with wide options that can go in/out.
Auba will be allowed more central once we have those wide FB outlets.

Future?
Create this same fluidity of movement with 2 players capable in/out (Tierney/creative LW) & replicate that exact playing pattern on the right (Saka + FB outlet) to cause trouble for the opposition on both sides freeing the ST- MF pivot to cover vacated wide spaces.

Needs?
1) A creative profile on the LW capable in/out to compliment Tierney.
2) A 2-way MF capable in transition to cover the vacated wide spaces that uses controlled aggression to cover the transitional threat.
3) A leggy RB outlet to emulate Tierney on the right for Saka.

Really flattered by all the positive feedback and interaction!
Much of this compliments an earlier transfer thesis I've done for those that would like to check it out below to explain my choices/ideas! https://twitter.com/szn_saliba/status/1338578182144929795
