Wow. I've heard about some of the arguments Abdal Hakim Murad is making in this text and watched an interview but when you read it yourself, it is something else.
So, despite the economic, political and social power Europe exerts over the rest of the world both historically and today, and the desire for supremacy that has led it to be feel injured by the presence of others, it is Muslims who must show forgiveness and understanding.
And see this as vulnerability and not a desire for mastery.I can offer what he dismisses as a sociological assessment , but even from an Islamic perspective (as if sociological assessment is absent here!) I can't seem to understand historical precedence being applied this way.
Would be interested in people's thoughts on this extract and the text (Travelling Home 2020) for those who've read it.
Particularly interested in hearing from Muslims in UK and Europe. Let's also note that this argument is being put forth by a white covert.
